Comic Watch is proud to spotlight and support crowdfunded projects across various platforms so that these creators are able to bring their creations and stories to life.
After last week’s slight respite we are back with some new projects
Here are just a few of the projects that we feel deserve your attention and support
Gorgo Legacy
From the creators the acclaimed graphic novel SOUL WAR — Journey again to Nara island! Gorgo is back and better than ever!
For fans of legendary kaijus, this book is a must have! And, if you’ve ever wanted to see how the MIB would handle Kaiju, this is the book for you!
This prequel to the cult classic film Gorgo, a kaiju blood feud and cold war intrigue collide in the deadly waters of the North Atlantic!
In 1953 World War II is over, and the Cold War has taken its place. And in this new era of simmering world tension, a secret international agency known as SERENITY monitors — and often conceals — the threat of giant monsters they term “mega-cryptids.” The Kaiju!
AGENT BENSON might well have saved the world in his first mission for Serenity. But now he must balance new duties with his unwanted status as a war hero. His encounter with a malevolent alien intelligence on that fateful mission has left deep scars on his psyche, as well — cursing him with weird visions of the future.
Sent on a new mission with AGENT SIMON, an untested recruit, Benson must now investigate strange events on an isolated isle off the coast of Ireland. Destructive creatures have been sighted, unidentified cargo ships roam the nearby channels and, mysteriously, the Serenity agent previously assigned there has disappeared.
Los Ojos
John Wick meets John Constantine: one man with two guns fighting his demons both literal and imaginary!
Andres Sanchez is a hitman for hire with a special ability – when he looks people in los ojos (the eyes) he doesn’t see them as human, he sees them as angels or demons. He believes demons walk among us disguised as people, and he uses his ability to select his targets, only killing those he thinks are monsters. But lately he’s started to question if his special sight is showing him the truth, or if he’s just crazy.
Haunted by the possibility that he may be killing people and not monsters, Andres now has to rethink his powers and his profession. At the same time, he’s forging a relationship with a woman and her son that he saved, while secretly being hunted by both the FBI and a mysterious organization of assassins who also have supernatural senses like Andres.
It’s John Wick meets John Constantine: one man with two guns fighting his demons both literal and imaginary!
Los Ojos is a 132 page full color graphic novel for mature readers from award-winning writer Trevor Mueller and artist Francesco Iaquinta, with a special exclusive cover by Ben Templesmith!

Mark Russell’s Traveling to Mars Exclusive Hardcover Edition
From Eisner Award winning writer Mark Russell and artist Roberto Meli comes the Eisner-nominated compelling sci-fi story…
From Eisner Award winning writer Mark Russell and artist Roberto Meli comes the compelling, Eisner-nominated sci-fi story…
Traveling to Mars introduces us to former pet store manager Roy Livingston, the first human to ever set foot on Mars. Roy was chosen for this unlikely mission for one simple reason: he is terminally ill and therefore has no expectation of returning. Roy is joined on his mission to Mars by Leopold and Albert, two Mars rovers equipped with artificial intelligence, who look upon the man as a sort of god. Against the backdrop of not only his waning days but those of human civilization, Roy has ample time to think about where things went wrong for both of them and what it means to be a dying god.
A riveting story of planetary exploration and of finding meaning in your final days.
Comic Watch Coverage of Traveling To Mars:

A 90 page graphic novel anthology about Trans and Non Binary experiences of gender euphoria across a wide range of genres.

The Witch Creek Road Omnibus
Collecting the first 3 arcs of Garth Matthams’s and Kenan Halilovic’s hit webtoon series into one horrific 400+ page Omnibus!
Welcome to Witch Creek Road!
This story is years in the making. Literal years. It began when I was living in Japan. I’d find myself with the occasional weekend with nothing to do, and so I did the best thing I could think of: horror movie marathons coupled with cheap pizza. It was glorious. The joys of youth, I tell ya.
It was during these weekends of bad horror and cheap pizza that I began to create my own stories.
This particular story began its life as “Vampire Cheerleaders from Hell”, and it leaned pretty heavily into the cheesy horror that filled those occasional weekends. But slowly, as I navigated from draft to draft, the tone became more serious. And slowly it became what you see before you: “Witch Creek Road”.
The Witch Creek Road Omnibus collects the first three storylines:
- Witch Creek Road Volume 1 – A survival horror about love, acceptance, death and revenge. And sexy flesh-eating demons. Yeah, it has those, too.
- Witch Creek Road Volume 2: Skinned – The story of two sisters who survive an encounter with an undead killer, only to find themselves descending into madness and murder.
- Witch Creek Road Volume 3: Infested – A paranoia-fueled story about a group of friends trying to survive the horrors (and bugs) that infest their small town.
The Ex-Wives of Frankenstein 1-3
Issue 3 of the modern reimagining of the Frankenstein mythos, told from the side of the women left to clean up the mess.
The third issue of The Ex-Wives of Frankenstein is all stitched together and ready to go.
If you haven’t seen the first two (which are very much available in catch up tiers), let me set the scene.
Three years after Victor Frankenstein and his Monster ran amok through the city and disappeared into the icy waters of the north, they are found alive, living as a gay couple in the arctic and are now returning as heroes of Reddit, Twitter and the MRA community.
This is the story of Elizabeth Frankenstein and The Bride of the Monster the day they find out they’re about to be dragged back into a hell they never asked for. Despite being pitted against each other their entire lives, they both realize no one else could understand what they are about to go through. So, they need each other now, no matter how complicated that gets.
The Dead and the Damned #1-2
A dark fantasy apocalypse set in a world where the only fate worse than death…is life.
The Dead and the Damned is a dark fantasy apocalypse set in a world that for centuries has been ravaged by a horrifying curse where all things that die return to wage war on the living. Raised by the insidious Gravehand, his four Pallbearers receive visions of their past lives that challenge their reality. Can they complete the Gravehand’s destructive conquest, or will their desires consume them first?
Equal parts sword and sorcery epic and end-times road trip, The Dead and the Damned is a Mature Readers fantasy comic featuring a sprawling cast of characters, jaw-dropping visuals, soul-wrenching drama, and darkly humorous adventure in a world where the only fate worse than death… is life.

Lampblack #1-4: Fantasy Comic for Studio Ghibli fans!
A girl whose paintings come to life. A Deaf boy who wants to be a soldier. A story of passion, art, and war inspired by Hayao Miyazaki.
LAMPBLACK is a limited comic series written by Camille Longley with art by Pablo Peppino and letters by Joel Saavedra. It’s an oversized 8.5×11 inch landscape comic in a sweeping cinematic style. Lampblack has everything you expect in a coming-of-age story: horrifying ink monsters, wondrous forbidden magic, sign language, runaways, and a cat (of course).
Lampblack is a story of friendship, family, and war, set in a fantastical world and depicted in stunning detail. If you’re a fan of Studio Ghibli, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Sabrina, or Pokémon, you will love exploring the world of Lampblack–a place filled with strange creatures and and stranger magic.
Just Another Swamp Song – A High School Horror Comedy
A comic book about an outcast and her best friend–who happens to be an increasingly murderous swamp monster.
A 20-page one-shot written by Danny Djeljosevic and drawn by CJ Camba, Just Another Swamp Song is a pseudo-romantic horror comedy for readers who like romantic horror like Swamp Thing and The Shape of Water, but love the flavor of subversive teen comedies like Heathers, Mean Girls, and Jennifer’s Body.
Just Another Swamp Song is already a fully completed project, so once the campaign finishes we’ll be hit the ground running on getting the book out to backers.
Adrift on a Painted Sea by Tim Bird
A poignant, thoughtful graphic memoir that explores family, loss, and art through the author’s relationship with his mother.
With this campaign we’re funding the beautiful and poignant graphic novel Adrift on a Painted Sea by Tim Bird.
Fans of Avery Hill’s books will know Tim as one of our longest-standing collaborators, who has published many comics and books with us (including the British Comic Award-winning Grey Area – From The City to the Sea.)
Tim has designed some fantastic bonus items to accompany the book too, so scroll to find out more!
Sue Bird was always painting: botanical art, landscapes, still lifes, and especially the sea. She took classes, kept countless sketchbooks, and filled the house with art. From their neighborhood to their family trips, all the moments of her life were memorialized in her artwork. Throughout her life, she never sold a piece — she gave art to family and friends, and shared her work online, but never received wider recognition for her work.
This graphic novel by her son, Tim Bird, explores their family life and her creative explorations through a mix of her paintings and Tim’s comics, depicting their relationship and her life from teenagehood to her struggle with cancer at the height of the covid pandemic. After her death, this graphic novel at last showcases her work.
At its heart a book about creativity and family relationships, Adrift on a Painted Sea tells a story about the things we overlook in the people closest to us.
THE CRYOS
A punk rock no-wave sci-fi comic book about band life, retro time machines, and an ’80s vision of the future.
When Ana Droid and her no-wave punk band find H.G. Wells’ Time Machine in the basement of a London club that used to be a pickle factory, they leave 1982 behind and travel 1000 years into the future, where they must choose sides in the bi-oid revolution against uber-rich tech magnate Arthur Hawkes.
The Cryos is a no-wave sci-fi time travel comic book series told across a 5-issue arc. With this campaign, our goal is to raise funding to complete production and print the first 34-page issue of the story. Beyond that, our hope is that the project’s success will allow us to immediately continue production on future issues of the comic book!
This is a years-long passion project for everyone involved. It’s dedicated to visionaries Poly Styrene and Lora Logic of X-Ray Spex (and Essential Logic!) who created truly thought-provoking, perspective-shifting, and mind-expanding art. We’re asking that you join us in making this comic book series a reality.
