Sky Masters of the Space Force – The Complete Sunday Strips in Color

A historic first publication by Kirby Museum Press and is the first official crowdfunding campaign for a Jack Kirby book.

Current Funding: $44,088
Funding Goal: $10,000
Days Left: 12

The Sky Masters of the Space Force newspaper strip is one of the most fascinating and obscure works by comics legend Jack Kirby. The strip narrates, with a realistic approach, the adventures of Major Sky Masters during the early days of space exploration in the late 1950s, just as a new front opened in the Cold War between the U.S. and U.S.S.R.: a frenzied space race. Now fans and scholars can experience this lost piece of Kirby history as never before, with Sky Masters of the Space Force – The Complete Sunday Strips in Color.

Created and developed by Kirby with writer Dave Wood at the beginning of 1958 while Kirby was working for National (DC), the Sky Masters daily strip debuted on September 8 of that year. Five months later, on February 8, 1959, the color Sunday strips arrived featuring a totally independent storyline from the dailies.

Sky Masters features spectacular art from two of the comics industry’s leading lights of the era. Kirby and embellisher Wallace Wood were both at the peak of their careers, and brought the art of the strip to unprecedented levels. Compared to the Sky Masters dailies, the Sunday strips were the maximum expression of the team’s artistic prowess.

While the Sky Masters Sundays have seen print before, they’ve never been presented in their complete form or in color. Spanish designer Ferran Delgado, who compiled and produced the Eisner Award-nominated first edition of this book published in 2015, found all the best source material, including an extra 100 panels that were created to allow for the various formats of  Sunday newspaper sections. Some of these panels hadn’t been seen in any reprint editions. Delgado also featured the first re-printing of strip #52, which hadn’t been printed since its original publication in newspapers. Sky Masters of the Space Force – The Complete Sunday Strips in Color contains all 54 complete Sunday strips, including the extra panels, compiled in color, all painstakingly remastered in this deluxe volume

Foes #1: the Donut Battle

An Alien and a Demon come to take over Earth, only to use their supernatural powers and weaponry to squabble over a donut.

Current Funding: $1,129
Funding Goal: $790
Days Left: 22
Link: Foes #1: the Donut Battle

In the same city, in the dead of the same night, the planets aligned and the dimensional veil fluttered; creating the perfect conditions for two monsters – one a Demon hailing from the hellfire below, the other an Alien from infinite void above – to arrive on Earth.

These creatures will herald the darkest age our planet has ever known, and irrevocably change humanity’s future to one of eternal slavery and torture.

…But before all that conquest and invasion stuff they stop by a random coffee shop and end up reaching for the same donut. And they simply CANNOT move past it.

What follows is a battle that’s as destructive and as devastating as it is stupid, from which only one of these beings can be worthy enough to claim ownership of the glorious ring of grease and sugar.

Oh, and then be probably the ruler of the, whatchacallit,  planet.

Demon vs Alien, who will win?

Drumsticks of Doom Vol 1 Heavy Metal GN/ issues1-4 MAKE 100

The Heavy Metal Epic shreds into its first collected edition (issues 1-4). GET IN THE PIT! With a MAKE 100 exclusive cover!

Funding Goal: $5,000
Days Left: 16

When Black Sabbath (not the Beatles) became the world’s most famous band, the universe was changed, musically and otherwise. Lost arts, like Alchemy, were made common, schools taught about transfiguration and alternate science, Demons were summoned and some stuck around.

Lana LOVES music. She has played in bands all through high school and now, in college, she still plays in her ex’s fledgling metal band. She’s convinced their drummer to play her indie songs in secret. She’s finishing up the best practice yet when they are drawn into a spiritual battle to keep metal on the top of the charts.

Issues 1-4 are a wild ride of Daywolves, Metal Cults and hybrid creatures presented in Trade Paperback for the first time in this campaign. We have BIG PLANS for future arcs and this TPB is a HUGE step towards the future for the series.

Armageddonquest Issue #1 – 52-Page Lost Comix Epic!

Long OOP, NSFW coming-of-age adventure blending Golden Age Marvel, 80’s manga, TMNT, and Robert Crumb about a reluctant Antichrist

Current Funding: $1,162
Funding Goal: $3,000
Days Left: 19
Link: Armageddonquest Issue #1 – 52-Page Lost Comix Epic!

Armageddonquest (or “AQ”) is the b&w underground “comix” epic by the singular voice of writer/artist Ronald Russell Roach (or “3R”) crafted between 1984 – 1992. It’s the coming-of-age tale of the Antichrist, Tazio, but he’s a reluctant one –  a nice kid who doesn’t want to hurt anyone or bring about the end of the world. The rest of the world, however, wants him to be what they say he is, and fulfill a destiny preordained long before his birth.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a NSFW comic, but not in the usual way. Yes, there is nudity, but this isn’t a T&A comic as we understand it in 2023. Armageddonquest lies somewhere between Golden Age Stan Lee, 80’s manga, and Robert Crumb – it can read like an oddly family-friendly yarn, whimsical and carefree…until it isn’t. Extreme violence, full frontal nudity, all the potty words known to mankid – it’s all here! This first issue is relatively tame, but future issues get intense!

OOP since the late 90’s, we’re bringing AQ back to the masses, to finally give it the exposure it’s long deserved. Plus: These new editions will finally be in AQ’s orignal format, whichi s closer to 6×9 than the standard american comic size, which always left a significant amount of white space at the top and bottom of the page.

PAGAN VALLEY

A bad gambler tries to pay her debts but gets deeper in trouble as the night goes on in this action comedy graphic novel

Current Funding: $1,703
Funding Goal: $3,000
Days Left: 12
Link: PAGAN VALLEY

Welcome to the “Pagan Valley” Kickstarter campaign. Thank you for joining Ghezal Omar and Kayden Phoenix on this journey.

We grew up watching great female leads like Geena Davis, Sigourney Weaver, and Linda Hamilton in fun action-packed films. We wanted to create our own adrenaline-pumped action story with a twist of comedy. So we created and wrote “Pagan Valley.”

Meet Monty Hudson, a self-proclaimed card shark extraordinaire. Life takes a nosedive after a brutal losing streak, landing her in hot water with some seriously shady loan sharks. Pressed by financial desperation, Monty’s best friend, Feliz, convinces her to resort to extreme measures: robbing the strip club where Feliz works as a dancer.

Armed with a borrowed gun, Monty cracks the safe and snags what she hopes is a jackpot. However, upon cracking open the case, she discovers not money, but bricks of cocaine. Turns out, the strip joint and the white stuff are under the ownership of the Russian mob.

Now, Monty and her crew are on a wild mission. They’ve got to ditch the drugs, outsmart the Russian mob, and scrape together enough dough to satisfy those relentless loan sharks—all before the sun comes up. It’s a rollercoaster of a night for Monty and her pals, with more twists and turns than a poker game gone wrong.
