Death Sentence Trilogy & Artbook

Funding Goal: $2,000
Days Left: 25
Link: Death Sentence Trilogy & Artbook
Little Deaths II is an atmospheric collection of dreamy paintings and delicate ink rendering from the brush of renowned artist and writer Monty Nero, three years in the making. Monty’s art embraces special locations real and imagined, and visually stylish characters from his own imagination, TV, film and music. Half the pieces are rendered in ink, acrylic paint or watercolour, and half are painted digitally, portraying a strange reality more inspiring than our own.

People across North America and Europe are contracting the deadly G+ Virus, an STD that gives them weird abilities and six months to live. What can they do in the time they’ve got left? That’s the dilemma facing Verity, a frustrated artist, Weasel, a burned-out rock singer, and Monty, an insane movie star.

The more creative they get the more dangerous they become –  because G+ is a virus that turns artists into gods, leading to an epic confrontation between our protagonists.

The series is wild, dark, and blackly funny, for mature readers. Each book continues on from the last and provides a satisfying story in its own right. You can start with any book or get the whole set, with the artbook adding the latest amazing artwork from series co-creator Monty Nero.  It’s a deep, thrilling, intricately plotted series infused with fear and mystery that rewards repeat reading. Like all the best comics it features characters who feel touchingly real leading incredible lives we can only dream of.

If you’re into Akira, William Gibson or Grant Morrison and detailed atmospheric art then you’ll love this series, with Death Sentence hailed as timeless comic art and writing. It has been favorably compared to the greatest graphic novels ever made, with some of the best art and most addictive storytelling ever.

This is the perfect time to get the entire epic story, a decade in the making, and explore the fresh vision in the new artbook!

Mike Grell’s Jon Sable Freelance Deluxe Hardcover Vol 1 & 2

MIKE GRELL’S JON SABLE FREELANCE Returns!

After a hugely successful Volume 1, we’re finally back for Volume 2, and have great news! Not only is Volume 2 already well underway with the meticulous remastering (which is moving rapidly) but plans for printing are already being put in place, and our hope is to have this project wrapped up by the end of 2023!

Volume 1’s production, and shipping took way longer than we had planned, and active measures went into place in recent months to remedy all those lingering issues, which started at the pandemic’s height, and dogged us all the way to the end. But we’re leaving the pandemic, and the struggles we faced, in the dust, with a fully revamped Masterstroke Studios going forward.

Luckily, the old saying “seeing is believing” proved true, as the fan reaction to seeing Volume 1, and holding it in their hands was met with a resoundingly positive reaction. It was hard to explain what we were attempting to do with the remastering process, but the end results were to maintain the original look and feel of SABLE, while also making it look better. In fact, it looks the best it ever has, and we are proud to call this the “Definitive” and final word on JON SABLE FREELANCE!

Mike Grell, Jeff Messer, and Glenn Hauman have all been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that Volume 2’s launch, and timeline will stun those who patiently waited over two years for Volume 1. And, with Volume 2 fast-tracking, that puts Volume 3, and beyond, on a much close timeframe.

Many turn out to see the show, including a mysterious young woman with closer ties to the old house than anyone realizes. FREE HANDS Issues 1 & 2

The first two issues of a historically-grounded pirate noir in the colonial Atlantic. Equal parts Treasure Island & The Usual Suspects.

Current Funding: $3,793
Funding Goal: $6,000
Days Left: 20
Link: FREE HANDS Issues 1 & 2
The most valuable spoils at sea are days without masters.
After murdering their captain and hauling him overboard, the crew of the pirate ship FREE-HAND make their way against the naval empires that would put them in chains, as recounted by the crew’s sole survivor.

Free Hands is a 6-issue historical noir adventure series about the small rebellions and little victories–often coupled with crimes and violence–tackling social and cultural struggles still present today, through the lens of the “golden age of piracy.”
The story comes from the perspective of Gregor, a low-level crewman awaiting execution and being made an example of by Reverend Wilson, a notoriously anti-pirate clergyman in early 18th-century Boston. Continuing his forced confession, Gregor details the heroics and debauchery of a pirate crew forced into violence or endless servitude at the hands of cruel British captains.
Free Hands looks to historical accounts of piracy and incorporates elements of westerns and crime fiction to tell a story of people finding their place in a world seemingly designed to hold them back. Drawing on the traditions of Treasure Island and Pirates of the Caribbean, and twist-films like Se7en and The Usual Suspects, it is a story strikingly of our time while remaining faithful to its own.

Funding Goal: $31,832

The Terry Pratchett Estate and Neil Gaiman are once again joining forces, this time to bring one of the most well-loved writing collaborations in history to life in graphic novel form. We are working with the inimitable Colleen Doran on Good Omens: The Official (and Ineffable) Graphic Novel.

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman began life almost forty years ago as an idea that grew legs (and scales and rapidly wings) and went on to be published in 1990. The story follows the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley as they attempt to avoid the impending Apocalypse on the horizon. There’s also the small matter of a missing Antichrist…

Good Omens has been reprinted many, many times and translated into over forty languages across the world. It has also been adapted for audio (twice!) and most-recently television, with seasons 1 & 2 now available on Amazon Prime Video. But it has never been a graphic novel… until now.

The creative team is absolutely delighted to be working with Colleen Doran, the multi-award-winning illustrator and long-term collaborator with Neil on projects such as Chivalry, The Sandman, and Snow, Glass, Apples. She has also worked on other hugely prestigious titles including Wonder Woman, Amazing Spiderman, Lucifer, Walt Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and created all the art for Stan Lee’s autobiography.
