‘MAUI STRONG is a comic anthology that adapts some of Maui  ‘s beloved tales, called mo?olelo, which contain many wisdoms, parables, and lessons.

This comic anthology adapts some of Maui’s beloved tales and histories, called mo?olelo, which contain many wisdoms, parables, and lessons. The combination of the word mo?o, which means a series or succession, and ??lelo, meaning words, are the stories and histories of Hawai?i. Mo?olelo were told to preserve Hawaiian histories, concepts, beliefs, idioms, proverbs, poetry, and more.

Maui Strong celebrates a centuries-old cultural tradition the way it used to be done, with a mo?olelo and a chant., focusing specifically on the island of Maui, with local talent including: Tom Bacon, Mark Gould, Blaze Ho?omakoa, Brooke Hutchins, Jillian Ikehara. This story takes place in Emerald City a couple of months after Dawn has become a hero. Having found a lead on a serum that awakens peoples’ powers, she has sprung into action to shut it down. Having fought in the shadows under the cover of night, she feels it is time for someone to take a stand and become a symbol of hope for the people being affected and the’ evildoers that have been taking advantage of the cities’ lack of protection.
Our goal is to raise $1,200 to get things rolling and even if we don’t reach our funding goal, all funds we do accrue will be put directly into the company. We are determined to get this off the ground. This campaign is crucial to us because it’s the first time people will be introduced to the SwallowTail Universe. We want to show them what it means to support us by providing them with Quality stories with Strong, Diverse, (and most importantly) Compelling characters. We strive to put our best foot forward on ALL campaigns (such as this one) and show truly how committed we are.

The story is a mixture of Superhero, Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy and Mystery.  If you like late 70s and 80s Action/horror/Sci-fi/Fantasy movies, then this is for you.

Set in the early 1980s, a former monster slayer from a bygone era receives word that a legendary vampire has returned. Reluctantly, the Slayer is drawn back into the world of the supernatural, determined to confront the ancient evil and prevent it from wreaking havoc on the world once more.

 

Meanwhile, two seasoned detectives are investigating a series of grisly murders, while a group of kids embark on their own adventure after witnessing what they believe to be their recently deceased neighbor walking around at night.

Mark Spears Monsters is an ongoing comic series by myself, Mark Spears.  I will be doing all the covers, interiors and writing.  The first part of the series titled “All That Remains” spans 8 issues and releases all at the same time.  All the artwork for the 8 issue is 100% complete.  All I need is to hire a letterer to finish up the books.   It has taken me most of 2023 to create this comic series and it’s truly a passion project born of hard work, pure love for storytelling, and an attitude of ‘if they won’t publish my book, I’ll do it myself’.   I’ve completed all the work up front and now need your help to raise funds for a letterer, printing costs, etc
