Kickstarter isn’t the only place indie creators go to fund their projects, and we here at Comic Watch want to highlight and support those projects across the various platforms.

We especially want to spotlight those projects that still need a push along with those stretch goals.

Below is a brief synopsis of the project; for more details and to support the projects, click on the link to the campaign page.

What if we discovered the source of life on Earth and it led to war with an alien race?

The Killing Machine combines the thought-provoking writing of Arthur C. Clarke with the action and space battles of Star Trek. Collecting Issues #1-3 of the epic science fiction story.

The Killing Machine is the first book of an epic, thought-provoking, and action-packed science fiction story exploring an age-old question about the nature of life in the universe. In the first issue entitled “I Want to Fly,” you met Richter, an Autonomous Robotic Commander (ARC), put in charge of a crew of human soldiers on a dangerous mission. You also met Lieutenant Coni, a battle-hardened veteran with a dark past. Richter manages to land on an alien planet while Lieutenant Coni confronts a more powerful, alien vessel in space.

In the second issue entitled “The Hand of God,” scientists discover a mysterious object deep under the ocean which appears to be the source of life on Earth. The discovery of this object, known as the “Hand of God,” incites a political battle between the nations on Earth as well as the creation of an international cult who seeks to liberate the artifact. In the third issue entitled “The Ganymede Anomaly,” the threads of the story will be drawn together, revealing more about origin of “The Hand of God,” humanity’s conflict with the alien race, and Richter’s mission to the alien planet. With your help, we can continue to bring this unique and powerful story to life.

London. 1883. A world much like ours. And much like ours, this world has always been on the brink of collapse: Utter annihilation brought upon by the servants of one God or another. Only the members of the Order of the Golden Lance stand against an ever-rising tide of magical creatures that are fighting for their right to exist. But the Order’s is a defensive war, for they are not willing to do what must.

Enter Vida Gedmintas and Cal Lancaster, veteran members of the Order. When a grisly, magically fuelled murder rocks London on Halloween’s eve, they’re called by Scotland Yard to help find the perpetrator. Their investigation will uncover the workings of a fanatic covenant of vampires acting behind scenes to bring forth Abaddon, the Angel of Death, to our realm, and their leader, the dark wizard known as The Forsaken, will stop at nothing!

With Halloween upon them, it’s a battle against time as the Order of the Golden Lance races to prevent the summoning spell. But soon enough, Vida will discover The Forsaken has been closer than she thought all along!

Meanwhile… A Comic Shop Anthology

An 80 page anthology comic book celebrating the comics medium and the stores that showcase it.

Current Funding:  $5,062
Funding Goal: $2,500
Days Left: 25
Link: Meanwhile… A Comic Shop Anthology by Ryan Higgins (@comicsconstore)

The squeak of the spinner rack. The flip-flip-flip of fingers going through back issue bins. Expensive vintage books suspended inside their clear prisons. Wednesday Warriors gathered at the monolithic wall of new releases. A child’s excited query of “Can we please get this?” A debate at the front counter about who’s stronger, who’s faster.

Maybe there are T-shirts and toys and other collectibles; maybe this space is so filled by comics — in bins, boxes, stacks — that there aren’t three feet of room to spare for anything else. Maybe that wide-eyed new customer doesn’t buy anything today, but just wanders, remembering, for a few minutes, the joy of when they used to read those things.

These aisles contain magic.

Welcome to Meanwhile… A Comic Shop Anthology.

To celebrate this beloved medium and the stores that showcase it, we’ve assembled an 80 page anthology of short comics and pinups by a diverse group of creators telling the stories that reflect their unique voices and experiences as not only comics creators, but consumers. Reading this throwback to the old “80 Page Giants” of yesteryear might be akin to browsing an actual comic store — you’ll find superheroes, adventure, humor, horror, science fiction, manga, and some stories that defy easy categorization.

Meanwhile… A Comic Shop Anthology is an 80-page perfect bound comic book, with a 12 pt. gloss cover and 70 lb. uncoated interior pages, with stories and art in full color, single color, and black & white

Really into BL comics like “The World’s Greatest First Love,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” and “Love Stage.” although the creator wasn’t much of a writer, but started playing around with various comedic concepts, and one of them caught my fancy: “Fujoshi Trapped in a Seme’s Perfect Body.” This quirky series unintentionally launched The Yaoi Army as an independent BL publisher. Since then, over twenty other titles to life and continue to create more. And now,the publisher is thrilled to share BOYS LOVE Art Book

This book celebrates the amazing talent of The Yaoi Army’s artists, featuring art collections, sketches, and illustrations from our vault. We had a lot of fun putting it together and hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

I Summoned Cthulhu to Fund My Kickstarter #1 – HORROR/COMEDY

Cthulhu descends on the comics industry in a new series about a writer who sells his soul to ancient gods in exchange for success.

Current Funding:  $17,143
Funding Goal: $5,500
Days Left: 14
Link: I Summoned Cthulhu to Fund My Kickstarter #1 – HORROR/COMEDY by Pat Shand (@PatShand)

What if the trends that creators follow to help sell their comics were actually Dark Gods? Would you pledge your soul to the Dark God Cthulhu, who has horror fans wrapped around his tentacles? Would you pledge your soul to the Waifu Goddess, who lures NSFW fans in with cheeky covers? Or would you fall into the traps of the eerily similar Death Goddess, who has fans of ’90s comics in the palm of her hand?

This new comedy/horror from Pat Shand & Team Space Between is “This Is The End” meets the comics industry! I Summoned Cthulhu to Fund My Kickstarter is a loving parody of all the trends in comics and on crowdfunding, poking fun at them all while also fully embracing them. It follows parody versions of real-life Kickstarter creators like Pat Shand, Charlie Stickney, and more as they make blood sacrifices to Dark Gods in order to become successful in the comics industry… but at what cost?
