Pink Midnight Presents: Barber Psychic

Follow eighty years in one man’s life, as Clarence tries to do what’s right by doing nothing, even as an increasingly uncertain future threatens to swallow him whole.

Current Funding: $1,168
Funding Goal: $4,000
Days Left: 26
Link: Pink Midnight Presents: Barber Psychic
Pink Midnight Presents is a weird horror anthology, in the vein of The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror and the strange stories of Robert Aickman and Stephen Graham Jones. But this horror doesn’t rely on blood and guts. Pink Midnight Presents invites you into a world where nothing feels real; where characters feel trapped by circumstances far beyond their control–and realize that self-destruction is often the only way to grow. And to escape.
Barber Psychic is the second story in Pink Midnight Presents following the acclaimed silent one-shot The Butterfly House. Its premise is simple, but is used to plumb the complex depths of one man’s psyche. Clarence Adams is a small-town barber with a horrible secret: when he cuts your hair, he sees your future. But Clarence tells no one, and does all he can to keep the future intact. He works. He gets married. He lives a life. He lives the life he knows is laid out for him. Pink Midnight Presents: Barber Psychic follows eighty years in one man’s life, as Clarence tries to do what’s right by doing nothing, even as an increasingly uncertain future threatens to swallow him whole.
Pink Midnight Presents is brought to you by writer Paul Allor (TMNT Vs. Street Fighter, GI Joe, X-Men), artist Juan Romera (IDW, CEX) and editor Claire Napier (The Magic Necklace, Image Comics). Juan and Paul have been working on strange comics together for more than a decade, and, along with Claire, are excited to bring this series of eerie stories to a brand-new audience!

We Belong

An All-Black, All-Queer Sci-Fi and Fantasy Comics Anthology

Current Funding: $10,065
Funding Goal: $15,000
Days Left: 5
Link: We Belong

WE BELONG is a comics anthology composed of 100+ pages of sci-fi and fantasy stories that center the queer Black perspective, all from queer Black creatives.

The lack of Black queer characters and stories inspired writer Viktor Kerney (StrangeLore) to develop a collection of these phenomenal tales. Co-editing alongside critic and comics creator William O. Tyler (Theater of Terror: Revenge of the Queers), they have assembled an array of incredible creators to share their stories, including Jay Hero, C.A.P. Ward, Ajuan Mance and many more!

These stories showcase the fact that, despite what the landscape of popular fiction says, Black queer people have and do exist everywhere, in every time and space. Whether we’re fighting monsters or becoming superheroes, we belong. From intergalactic adventures to interdimensional exploration, we belong. As wizards, as mermaids, as witches, fully as ourselves, we belong.

This joint venture between award-winning comics publisher Stacked Deck Press and Prism Comics, a nonprofit promoting LGBTQIA+ comics, comics creators, and fandom, is a moment not to be missed.

Do you love horror comics?

Are you excited for dark and creepy shared universes?

Are you ready for me to get back to writing horror comics for the first time since 2015?

Then you’ll love Hospice: One Damned Good Thing.

One Damned Good Thing is a one-shot horror comic set in the Hospice universe about a terminally ill prisoner who is given a reprieve to live out his final days at a beautiful hospice. He quickly finds out that this hospice is more sinister than he could have ever imagined.

Fans of my work have been asking me to do more horror work since Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter launched back in 2014. I mainly work in fantasy, but I love horror comics. So, when Travis Gibb (Voodoo Nation) asked me to write a one-shot in a shared Hospice universe I was psyched to join up. When he told me that we would be working with David Byrne (Stake), Frank Martin (Grimm Space), Jamie Primack (Binary Star), and Michael Watson (Hotshot). I was over the moon. I love each and every one of them both as humans and as brilliant creators
