Age of Canaan

Follow the gods of Canaan as they navigate celestial warfare and moral dilemmas, weaving a captivating tale of myth and humanity. Brought to you by Inkwell Award-winning creator Nir Levie

Current Funding: $2,763
Funding Goal: $3,000
Days Left: 26
Link: Age of Canaan

In the realm of gods and heroes, Akhat, adorned with a divine bow, faces the wrath of Anat, the passionate goddess, who covets his enchanted weapon. Akhat’s bold defiance sparks a furious vendetta, and as Anat dispatches her formidable falcon warrior to end his tale, an unexpected hero, Paghat, fueled by grief and rage, steps forward to rewrite the destiny set by the gods.

Embark on a thrilling adventure with the Ancient gods of Canaan in a dynamic fantasy graphic novel interweaving five tales from the 13th century BC Ugaritic chronicles. From epic battles mirroring the seasons to tragic vengeance and divine conflicts, each story unfolds in a captivating tapestry of action. The collection concludes with a mesmerizing love song, using the oldest surviving written melody to poignantly capture the beauty of nature and love through vivid, action-packed imagery. Join us on this mythical journey by supporting the project – where gods clash, heroes rise, and epic tales await. Your backing makes the magic happen!

Delving into the vast tapestry of human mythological history reveals an abundance of narratives, with only a fraction standing the relentless test of time. The stories that endure are often the ones co-opted by major religions, leaving behind a concealed wealth of untapped tales. As a descendant of Jewish heritage, my fascination lies in narratives untouched by the fingerprints of contemporary religious ideologies. Exploring mythological concepts linked to the Levant, I unearthed an epic literary source that remains largely unscathed. The Ugaritic texts unveil the Canaan ideology through a rich tapestry of myths and legends, a worldview deemed pagan by modern standards. The ancient Canaanite society’s focus on nature, encompassing farming, animals, seasons, and the ebb and flow of droughts and rains, echoes through these texts. In the modern era, there’s a resurging interest in these elemental themes, rendering these stories not relics of the past, but instead, surprisingly relevant and resonant in today’s world.

Vinny Ice’s journey is one of transformation, as he learns the value of precision and passion in pizza making. After rigorous training, he faces his rival, Randy, in a highly anticipated rematch. If he loses, he has to retire
  • Personal Pan(James Ferguson, Darren Vogt): The Warriors meets Jingle All the Way. A father gathers ingredients to make his late wife’s pizza recipe to reconnect with his son.
  • Pieces(Matt Summo, Jenny Odio, Scott Ewen): Tom returns to NY after his life turns upside-down and all he wants is the comfort of a great slice of pizza from a local spot. He discovers that place has been turned into a fast food chain and pizza has been outlawed. All seems lost until Tom meets…*the delivery guy*

Slice(s) of Life will also feature an interstitial story illustrated by Dan Buksa and written by all four writers. It follows a rogue pizza delivery woman and serves as the bookend for the anthology

After a truce was declared, the Saldyrians began rebuilding and gave birth to the first post-war children. All was peaceful until a group of Fallen viciously attacked a fishing village in search of a powerful crystal held by one of its residents. Now, two Saldyrian soldiers (Dante and Jalen) are fighting to save their loved ones with surprising aid from a Fallen assassin (Keila) looking to end the violence. While they have bought themselves some time, the world on the other side of the portal may not be safer than their own.

Keila and Dante are traveling off-world, exploring the portals that have appeared all over Saldyria for any trace of the warmonger Silas. Alternative Baltimore #1 : Headlines are Half the Story

A heartfelt exploration of what it means to live in Baltimore where everyday voices go unheard and history is forgotten

Current Funding: $755
Funding Goal: $600
Days Left: 3
Why would you move to Baltimore? Isn’t the crime insane? Have you seen the news out there? From the Headlines, you would think Baltimore is and has always been nothing but inner-city Mad Max. Let’s challenge this. In Baltimore Alternative we follow our author Jai from their exploration of the controversial Drag Queen Divine to what it feels like when you suddenly find yourself on the other side of fear-mongering media coverage.
“What if your final thesis was a comic book” a lovely peer asked me. After burning out from three years of researching computer ethics and assisting in Gender and Sexuality research coding, I knew I needed to try something new. This comic is based not just on real-world experiences but countless hours in libraries, archives, and walking on foot camera in hand. Why? Simple, Baltimore is abundant in untold stories from minority populations most likely to be reported on in media. People of Color, Queer People, and Religious Minorities have been an integral part of this city’s history yet these perspectives are often left out or misinterpreted.

Sarah and Tim’s book went on to be nominated for three Eisner awards!
In 1991, writer Sarah Byam and illustrator Tim Sale published a four-part mini series with Dark Horse Comics featuring a new heroic teen vigilante hero–Billi Chadam. Set in 1999, Billi 99 embodies a cautionary tale in which corporate greed and corrupt government affected an America very much like our own today. With that, they posed the question, what is power when everything has been taken away?
