Mad Cave Studios revealed that it is launching Nakama Press, a new imprint focused on producing Manga, Manhwa, and licensed titles. Joining imprints like Maverick, Papercutz, and Amazing Comics, Nakama Press is geared towards all ages, blending east and west art and storytelling aesthetics. The press release promises a showcase for both original stories and licensed titles. The announcement comes just in time for Anime NYC, a convention focused on anime and manga.
In the press release, Mad Cave Studios President Mark Irwin discussed the objective of the imprint, stating:
“Our mission with Nakama Press is to connect readers with stories that resonate universally, transcending cultural boundaries. We believe in the power of storytelling to bring people together, and Nakama Press is our way of celebrating that through the incredible world of manga and graphic novels.”
Alongside the original stories, Nakama Press is partnering with studios like Tatsunoko Production and Rainbow Group. More information about the imprint, along with some of its titles, will be revealed at Anime NYC’s Manga-Inspired Graphic Novels with Mad Cave panel. That panel will take place on Saturday, August 24 and features Kristen Simon, Senior Editor of Nakama Press, and Allison Pond, Director of Marketing for Mad Cave Studios. They plan to discuss some of the titles launching in 2025.
Irwin also discussed the imprint’s approach to storytelling, stating:
“We have an amazing team of creators and editors who bring different voices and perspectives to our projects. Nakama Press celebrates that and offers readers a rich tapestry of stories that entertain, inspire, and resonate deeply with audiences worldwide.”
