Marvel has teased the return of the classic Defenders title featuring some of the team’s original members in teaser art released Friday
The Defenders team was created by Roy Thomas and first appeared as a team consisting of Dr. Strange, The Hulk, and Namor in Marvel Feature #1 in 1971. The Silver Surfer would be join the team in issue #2 of The Defenders in 1972. From then on between 1972 and 1986 the team would enjoy a rotating membership which would see Dr. Strange and The Hulk as the two consistent members and a rotating roster featuring the likes of Hellcat, Valkyrie, Gargoyle, Nighthawk, Luke Cage and even Beast amongst others.

The teasers are using the tagline: The Best Defence and a December date can be seen on each of the art teasers. Whether this will be an ongoing or limited series is not clear at this time. The teaser art is by Ron Garney and Richard Isanove.

Surfer Return
It’ll be nice to see the return of the Silver Surfer. I can’t remember the last time he was really a main player in comics. His popularity kinda wained back in the 90’s.
