Marvel announces the return of its zombie infested universe this October in a new limited series. Marvel Zombies: Black, White & Blood joins the likes of Carnage, Darth Vader, and Elektra for the violent themed, pared down anthology format. The original Marvel Zombies was a five issue miniseries from writer Robert Kirkman and artist Sean Phillips, and saw the entire line infected by a virus.
The series spun out of Ultimate Fantastic Four, which saw that version of Reed Richards (before his turn to the Maker) exploring the multiverse and coming into contact with the zombie universe. So excited by the premise, Marvel sought to develop a story for the parallel world, which led to the initial miniseries. The series would return for six more miniseries, play a pivotal role in Secret Wars and was adapted for an episode of Disney+’s What If…? animated series.
Marvel has shared a look at the first cover for the anthology and the creative team for this first issue.
