Television just got a little more bombastic.
Michael Bay is in talks to direct a TV adaptation of Vault Comic’s Barbaric for Netflix, according to a story published by The Hollywood Reporter.
This will mark the first foray into episodic storytelling for the action-centric director. Attached to the series are actors Sam Claflin and Patrick Stewart, along with executive producers Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein. Turner will also write the adaptation based on the comic by writer Michael Moreci and artist Nathan Gooden.
The story follows a barbarian, Owen, as he is influenced by a demonic axe across three volumes and a spin-off, Queen of Swords. Claflin is set to play Owen in the adaption while Stewart would be providing his voice for the talking axe. The series is still in the development phase and Netflix has not made any comments on the initial story.
Bay already has a connection with Vault Comics, spearheading a story universe for the company under his banner Platinum Dunes, in conjunction with musical artist Post Malone as the primary writer.
