More details about Blood Hunt trickled out after Marvel hosted a retailer conference earlier today. Spearheaded by Blood Hunt writer Jed MacKay and VP Executive Editor Tom Brevoort alongside host/VP & Creative Executive Ryan Penagos, the event revealed more about the series before its May launch. This includes a look at the gore artist Pepe Larraz is bringing to the series. The book, which is resurrecting the red band editions for the bloody conflict, weaves together various elements from MacKay’s time at Marvel as vampires wage war against the world at large.
MacKay discussed the use of vampires for the event, stating:
“As we’ve seen in Moon Knight, I keep chucking vampires in! And [Blood Hunt] is a logical extension of that. I started gathering ideas and figuring out what we want to do from there, and a lot is keyed in from the work we’re doing on Moon Knight, and Doctor Strange is a natural vector into that. If there’s an Earth-shaking event, the Avengers will be the first on the scene.”
Also shared at the conference was details about some of the tie-ins also penned by MacKay, including Vengeance of the Moon Knight and Doctor Strange.
