New Doom Patrol TV Series News Continues to Trickle In: A Possible Picture Begins to Form

DC Universe’s upcoming Doom Patrol series has been in the news quite a bit the past few days. Leaked set photos (below) give us the first looks at Negative Man, Brendan Fraser’s Robotman, Diane Guerrero’s Crazy Jane, and April Bowlby’s Elasti-Girl.

The most recent casting of Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody helps to form a more solid picture of a possible direction for the show.

Mr. Nobody was a key villain during Grant Morrison’s acclaimed run on the title, particularly in Doom Patrol v2 #26-34, “The Painting That Ate Paris”. In the story, Mr. Nobody gathers a group of misfits with powers to rival Doom Patrol’s own brand of misfits, named the Brotherhood of Da-Da. The Brotherhood steals a magic painting capable of devouring people and uses it to eat all of Paris, prompting the Doom Patrol to come to the rescue while the Justice League stands by beleaguered.

Whether this story or anything resembling it appears in the show remains to be seen, but it is certainly an intriguing turn of events for a long time Doom Patrol fans. As always, we will be watching.
