NEW WATCH: Get A Glimpse of the Future With “Cyberpunk 2077”

Watch before you play with the now public E3 2018 demo of “Cyberpunk 2077”

Video game publisher CD Projekt Red released their 48 minute long 2018 E3 demo for its upcoming action role-playing game “Cyberpunk 2077” on Monday. The Poland-based game publisher responsible for “The Witcher” series originally streamed the demo live on the studio’s Twitch channel and since published it to YouTube in 4K and is the first footage we the public will be getting on the title.

Footage from the demo takes place near the beginning of the game as the protagonist and her friend Jackie track down a missing woman they’ve been hired to locate. They find her in an apartment full of scavengers, criminals who strip cybernetics from people to sell. Naturally, they put up a fight. What you see is a lot of shooting in the first-person, unlike The Witcher’s third-person viewpoint, and plenty of augmented human beings. It has all the neon we could hope for just like most cyberpunk tales, but not much on what the overall story will be, but gives an impressive first look at Night City, the metropolis that forms the game’s introductory setting.

“Elements like gunplay (both in terms of visuals and how RPG stats influence it), netrunning, car physics, or the game’s UI — everything’s pretty much still in the playtest phase and we felt uneasy about publicly committing to any particular design,” said “Cyberpunk 2077 game director and CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski. Reportedly fully playable, it’s still a work-in-progress, CD Projekt said. Since many assets and mechanics are likely to change before launch, the developer decided to initially show this demo to the media only. “Cyberpunk 2077” does not have a release date, but it’s scheduled to come out on the existing generation of consoles and PC, so it shouldn’t be too long before we get to play whats looking to be a great new game.
