At the 2024 New York ComicCon, I had the chance to sit down with the cast and creators of Outlander and discuss the second half of Season 7 of the hit Starz Series. Here’s what they have to say about Season 7.2! Season 7 is airing on Starz starting November 22!
Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser)
So we start off and we are back in Scotland, which I think is going to be very exciting for the fans because we’re back in Lallyibroch, which is, you know, Jamie’s ancestral home. He’s a lot more sort of anxious about it, I think than Claire. Claire’s just like, oh, great, we’re back in Scotland. But then, you know, things start to go right.
We’ve got some sad goodbyes. But then Claire needs to go back to Philadelphia and there she starts to get embroiled in some political intrigue and that sets off a very dangerous and dramatic sequence of events. It’s very different from the previous season. when it was just relaxed, right? She just she’s an agent of chaos, what can I say?.
I do think I think she’s learnt to temper her impulses a little bit. You know, I think that’s something that both Jamie and her have, how they’ve evolved. I think she was very hotheaded when she was younger. And that kind of quest for seeking justice and standing up for anyone who’s being mistreated or anything, it’s still there. But I think she’s just a little less impulsive about it. And I think also, I think she’s realized that, you know, with Jamie sometimes you’ve got to blow the steam off, and then wait, and then you he’ll come back and you can sort of then have the proper conversation
Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser)
I think it’s honestly, It’s gonna be a fan favorite. We return to Scotland, obviously it’s I think a huge part of our character’s journeys for for us, but also as the actors, we love going back there and you’re about to see the return of some great characters. Jenny and Roger, but also a couple of enemies, maybe, as well.
There’s some cool moments. and it’s so dramatic. A lot happens, there’s a separation of Jamie and Claire again, which is probably the hardest separation they’ve had since way back in season one or two. So, yeah, it’s gonna be a very dramatic season, so hold on to your hold onto your hats.
Jamie has a lot of unfinished business, relationships that he has great fondness for and memories of, but we’ll be seeing a lot of goodbyes this season, there’s a lot of grief this season. He’ll always be a Scotsman and always have great warmth for Scotland and Lallybroch, but ultimately he’s settled somewhere else, and I think he has a cool story to tell about immigrants, right? Finding a new life somewhere else.
Richard Rankins (Roger Wakefield)
Yeah, Roger just relaxes mostly. [Laughs] It’s it’s amazing how much we got into. It’s one of my favorite seasons. and I think the fans will think so too.
Everyone’s scattered as well. We encounter a few potentially familiar faces that, you know, I think the fans are gonna love. It’s just it’s got a hell of a lot in it and it’s going to be a good one.
Diana Gabaldon (Author of the Outlander Novels)
I think the second half of Season 7 is such a roller coaster, emotionally, and I think, you know, I love the first half, but I I say, like, we love the first half, but get ready and buckle your seatbelt for the second half because it’s just such a roller coaster and it’s just so jam-packed. We took parts of two books and jammed them into one season, so… I expect there’ll be tears. I don’t know if there’s as much laughter, But, you know, it’s very exciting.
