Season 3 of Seven Deadly Sins is on its way to Netflix in 2019
The insanely popular manga turned anime series Seven Deadly Sins are coming in for a third season on Netflix but this time Studio DEEN is helming the series, not A-1 Pictures. Having two glorious seasons and an action pack movie with an original story from the manga creator Nakaba Suzuki its no wonder that Netflix is keeping the ball rolling and getting in the third season set to premiere October 2019.
Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods, as the season will be titled, is heading toward the overall series climax. Studio DEEN announced Monday that it is producing this upcoming season with Rintarou Ikeda (Love and Lies, Hanebad!) handling story composition while Rie Nishino is in charge of animation character setting. But there is plenty of returning staff like Susumu Nishizawa (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E.73: Stargazer) who’s back on board as director after doing storyboards on Revival Of The Commandments, music composers Hiroyuki Sawano, Kohta Yamamoto, and Takafumi Wada are also back again. The amazing cast of Yuuki Kaji as Meliodas, Sora Amamiya as Elizabeth, Misaki Kuno as Hawk, Aoi Yuki as Diane, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ban, Jun Fukuyama as King, Yuuhei Takagi as Gowther, Maaya Sakamoto as Merlin, and Tomokazu Sugita as Escanor are also all returning for this third season.
Created by Nakaba Suzuki and serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since October 2012 The Seven Deadly Sins is about The third princess of Liones, Elizabeth, journey to reunite a disbanded and disgrace group of knights called the Seven Deadly Sins who where wrongly accused of plotting to overthrow the kingdom ten years ago by the holy knights. With the help of the Seven Deadly Sins, Elizabeth hopes to save her kingdom from holy knights coup d’etat of Liones.
Aired in Japan in 2014 and 2015 the first season of 24-episodes would then later be streamed by Netflix with both English and Japanese audio and Funimation releasing the series in two parts on home video. A four-episode television anime special titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War then premiered in August 2016 in Japan then Netflix began streaming the series in February 2017. The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments, the second television anime series, premiered in January 2018, and Netflix began streaming the series in October of 2018 along with the manga-inspired anime film The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky which opened earlier that year in August
