Marvel’s House of Ideas recently welcomed a new mural to their New York City offices courtesy of artist extraordinaire, the one and only Alex Ross. The publisher commissioned him to do this TIMELESS mural of the company’s premiere characters and variant covers to celebrate this masterpiece.
In the five minute video (see below), Ross is seen painting Spider-Man, while he talks about the inspiration for and details of the mural. The figures in the mural are life-sized as Ross tells the camera, after saying that each individual character is part of the overall composition,
” I felt the composition of all these individual characters standing together and I thought that kind of thing would be most impressive if they were life size figures you could stand next to and feel like you were amongst these real characters.”
While the original mural is located in the Marvel offices, the publisher has, over the last two months, revealed the 28 “Timeless” variant covers created by Modern Marvel Master Alex Ross, that will begin to hit shelves at your local comic shop in September.
Each terrific Timeless variant of Marvel’s greatest heroes brought to life by the iconic art of the relentlessly revolutionary Ross.
