After a massive season 2 launch, Amazon is reportedly fast tracking a spinoff of the popular series THE BOYS.
When season 2 premiered three weeks ago, the series was the most-watched global launch of any Amazon original series ever and experienced audience growth by 89% compared to season 1. THE BOYS has been renewed for a third season and even has an aftershow now hosted by Aisha Tyler.
The spinoff is set to focus on America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes also called “Supes” run by Vought International. It is being described as an “irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities”.
The new pilot is set to be written by Craig Rosenberg who will also serve as the showrunner and executive producer similar to his role with the original series. THE BOYS creator Eric Kripke is set to executive produce with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver alongside Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty. There is no information on when the spinoff series is expected to release as of yet.
