NEWS WATCH: Artist Tim Sale Passes Away at the Age of 66…REST IN POWER

In a year that has seen the passing of two major icons of the comic book industry, another great creator has passed on too soon.  Tim Sale, best known for his artwork on classic collaborations with Jeph Loeb such as Batman: The Long Halloween and Superman For All Seasons for DC Comic and the Marvel “Colors” series Daredevil: Yellow; Captain America: White;  Spider-Man: Blue;  and Hulk: Gray; has passed away at the age of 66.

Jim Lee recently reported via Twitter that Sale had been admitted to the hospital, but no other details were made available. This afternoon on Sale’s personal Twitter the  announcement of his passing was made public:

Along with his work with Loeb, Sale also provided the pencils and inks for the three-issue Shadow of the BatThe Misfits” story (issues #7-9) with writer Alan Grant, worked with artist Darwyn Cooke on the Superman Confidential storyline “Kryptonite’,” and was the first artist to be showcased in the artist anthology series SOLO (2004 -2006).

In addition to providing covers and variant cover art for countless titles and many publishers, Sale has also worked with the likes of Matt Wagner on his creator-owned title Grendel, Jim Lee and Brandon Choi on Deathblow, and contributed art for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer graphic novel.

The circumstances surrounding his passing have not been made available at this time, but the impact that he made on both the industry and fans alike will not be long forgotten.
