NEWS WATCH: Ava DuVernay Takes the Helm in DC Comics’ Naomi for The CW!

Ava DuVernay and Blankenship (Arrow) to develop DC Comics title Naomi as a new series for the CW!

Along with Jill Blankenship (Arrow), Ava DuVernay makes up the creative super-team hoping to bring along and develop DC Comics title Naomi aimed at a younger audience for The CW.

The DC title follows a young lady (Naomi) who finds herself trying to figure out where she is in life and adjusting to her super-hero status after switching universes. The screen version is being written and exec produced by DuVernay and Blankenship, following Naomi’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse.

Naomi is set to join the impressive list of CW shows based on DC characters, which will be the first not be connected to Berlanti’s universe that currently includes The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, along with recently canceled series Black Lightning and Supergirl, as well as the newcomer rookie series Superman & Lois. (The CW is also home to DC Universe transfer Stargirl, which is not part of the Arrow-verse, though it is produced by Berlanti.)

Stay tuned as the show’s details are still being released.
