NEWS WATCH: BLACK WIDOW Gets A Softer Rating

Kevin Feige lets us know that “Black Widow” was always meant to be a PG-13 movie

“It never was going to be [R-rated], somebody writes, ‘I hear it’s R-rated!’ And then everybody writes it up.” said Kevin Feige to ComicBook.com in a recent interview and added when asked if this would be the official end of the rumors “Yes, Correct.”

Rumors of the upcoming movie “Black Widow” have been spinning for some time that the production would garner an R-rating because of the source materials darker tones, but that is no longer the case.

Black Widow” the movie has been promoted as a prequel that still does not yet have a release date and Johansson will be earning a $15 million payday for this project. This solo outing for Johansson’s will have her reprising her role as “Black Widow” after the main Avengers story has ended and is the reason for many rumors since The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Cate Shortland had come on to direct the film last July. The beginning of the speculations for this movie getting an R-rating are still not clear but the darker if not bloody nature of the “Black Widow” missions and backstory in comics might have given fans the idea that Marvel would consider an R-rating even though every other Marvel Studio’s movie has been PG-13 to date.
