What is likely one of Kurt Vonnegut’s most influential works, Slaughterhouse-Five is being adapted into a graphic novel by the widely successful BOOM! Studios. Boom! Studios have been seeing a lot of press lately and with their library successful comics, they look to add Slaughterhouse-5 to their list of hits. The new cover, done by Albert Monteys with Scott Newman, is an honest voice about the novel itself. American classic and seminal anti-war novel, it is written by Eisner Award-winning writer Ryan North writer of How to Invent Everything: A Survival Guide for the Stranded Time Traveler. With art by the Eisner Award-nominated artist Albert Monteys (Universe!) and color assistance by Ricard Zaplana, this novel should be a must-buy for anyone familiar with the genre.
For those unfamiliar with Slaughterhouse-5, it is a thrilling tale torn from the pages of Billy Pilgrims’ journal. It follows his experiences in World War 2, the firebombing of Dresden as seen by a prisoner of the german army, and his time spent as a chaplains assistant and the years after the war. It is a science fiction filled anti-war novel that will draw you in, if its anything like the book, from cover to cover. The black humor and biting tones of Kurt Vonnegut are peppered throughout his works and this one is certainly no exception.
The novel drops September 15, 2020, so don’t miss it.
