Every girl deserves to be a Hero. A crowdfunding page on gofundme.com/Captainmarvel is campaigning for tickets for girls and young women to see the movie free in theaters. The GoFundMe launched on Jan. 8th 2019 has currently raised over 60,000 dollars, three times more than its original goal.
Donors have included some celebrity names such as Ellen DeGeneres and NBC Universal each gave 10,000 for the campaign.
According to We Tell Stories and Girls INC.LA “Everyone should have an opportunity to see women in roles they can aspire to one day be, roles that show women as strong, smart and bold,” the organizers say on the GoFundMe page. “From a teacher to a fighter pilot — or a superhero. This is an opportunity to continue to empower girls to be just that.”
Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson is set to hit theaters March 8th, 2019 on International Women’s day. The Funds from Captain Marvel will provide free tickets to nearly 2,000.

crowdfunding for good
It’s a great reminder that while most people crowdfunding for good causes are genuine, it’s still smart to be cautious about where you enter your payment details, since some fake pages pop up trying to exploit good will. I always recommend skimming a guide like this one on credit card fraud just to stay aware of common tricks. This particular effort looks legit and heartwarming, so glad it succeeded.
