CW has ordered a pilot for Ruby Rose’s Batwoman and has pulled in some Game of Thrones firepower to head it.
The pilot will be helmed by the Emmy award-winning director David Nutter who’s credits include the Game of Thrones episode “The Rains of Castamere” and several other episodes in the final season. Nutter has also had success with another high profile pilot episodes including other CW superhero series such as Arrow and The Flash as well as Smallville.
Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries, Melrose Place) will serve as showrunner and Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns will be the executive producers.
The official show description as revealed in Entertainment Weekly is quote:
“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
