FLASH FACT: Science is cool and DC Comics knows it.
Set for a February 2, 2021 release, DC Comics has introduced a new middle-grade graphic novel anthology featuring short stories starring the heroes of the DCU to demonstrate S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Principles and answer such questions as what’s at the bottom of the sea? Why polar ice melts? Or which tools forensic scientists use to solve a crime?
Flash Facts, is geared toward readers ages 8-12, and features a collection of short stories by an All-star roster of creators. If that wasn’t enough reason to pick up this anthology, the graphic novel is curated by Mayim Bialik played neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory from 2010 to 2019.
FLASH FACT: Aside from being an award-winning actress, Mayim Bialik holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
Under Bialik’s oversight, the short stories starring Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more DC Super Heroes, will demonstrate various S.T.E.M. principles and align with Next Generation Science Standards, to provide a helpful bridge between the S.T.E.M. lessons taught inside the classroom and how these principles affect our everyday lives.
Creators involved in the project include: New York Times bestselling author Michael Northrop (TombQuest, Dear Justice League), Dustin Hansen (Microsaurs, My Video Game Ate My Homework), Cecil Castellucci (Batgirl), Kirk Scroggs (Snoop Troop, The Secret Spiral of Swamp Kid), Corinna Bechko, Sholly Fisch, Amanda Deibert, Vita Ayala, Amy Chu, with more to be announced.
