The sky turned the darkest black. The days turned into night, the people came out of their homes and witnessed the sky starting to fall. It was at this moment they the end times have arrived. None of this actually happened, DC Comics just ended their long time partnership with Diamond and have moved to other means of shipping their titles to shops. If you have been on any social media platform you have definitely encountered folks that have taken up the mantle of “the world is ending and so are comics”.
Well, I’m not so sure if comics are ending because of DC leaving Diamond, but they have entered stage 2 of their “Hold my beer Tour 2020”. Announcing that their line of collectibles DC Direct will now have a different distribution path as well. Released earlier from Games Radar.
“After careful consideration of the current distribution model we have determined that we need to provide a more comprehensive global solution by transitioning the distribution of DC Direct products to a new partner base,” DC informed retailers Tuesday.
What else does DC have up their collective sleeve? Only time will tell as the nation comes out of self-quarantine and people start to get out and about, conventions start happening, and comics start shipping at they did prior to the pandemic. Will DC suffer the same fate as Marvel in the late 90s? Keep your eyes peeled and expect anything, but most importantly keep reading comics.
