BLACK ADAM‘ finds its Dr. Fate in James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan! 

DC Films Dwayne Johnson starring film, ‘Black Adam’ has just announced ‘James Bond’ star, Pierce Brosnan, starring as Kent Nelson also known as the helmeted mystical powerhouse Dr. Fate!

This marks Brosnan’s first foray into the superhero film genre, and he’s adding his star power to this already impressive cast for DC’s Black Adam that features Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, all JSA mainstays. And of course, Dwayne Johnson as the titular character.

Dr. Fate debuted in More Fun Comics in May of 1940, created by Gardner Fox, and Howard Sherman, is a story about Kent Nelson, son of archaeologist Sven Nelson, who finds a mystical golden helmet that transforms Kent into an agent of the Lord of Order, Nabu.

Fate and the various characters who’ve held the mantle has started an ongoing series and miniseries recently, as well as historically appearing in superhero group titles the Justice League, and the Justice Society.

Despite this being Fate’s first full feature film appearance, the character has made several appearances across various forms of entertainment, like animation and live action television. Catch Dr. Fate’s Golden Age DC teammates in the animated film Justice Society: World War II, to be released on May 11th, 2021.
