NEWS WATCH: Enter Batwoman!

The CW Expands With New Batwoman Series. Why This One Is Special

We’ve known for awhile that next season’s big crossover event between Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl would introduce Batwoman to Greg Berlanti’s Arrowverse but news now comes that the crossover will serve as a backdoor pilot for a Batwoman television series to possibly debut in 2019.

Geoff Johns, who has stepped down as head of DC Entertainment, will join Berlanti Productions with his Mad Ghost Productions as executive producers of the prospective series. The casting call has gone out for a lesbian actress to play the role of Kate Kane aka Batwoman who is an out lesbian and crime fighter seeking to bring justice to the streets of Gotham. With this move, The CW goes a step further in cementing itself as the network of diversity.

If the series is greenlit, it will be the first solo superhero series featuring an LGBT character as the lead. In DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the team is lead by White Canary, a bisexual woman. However, before the crossover has even aired, Batwoman is facing some adversity of the bigoted kind. Social media could kill it before it even airs from the look of the enormous backlash the news has generated. Check out these comments:

“Total insanity. Who would even want to watch such a joke of a show.”……”Berlanti has an agenda. He’s a member of Big Sodomy, so he considers it a duty to proselytize for it. If you see his name on a show, you will get a heavy dose of his type of disorder being presented as normal…”……..”In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice…. Stops reading. Hard pass on this SJW/LGBTQWe4RtbGH nonsense.”

Hopefully, these remarks only come from the overactive Troll Patrol and the rest of the audience will give the show a chance if it airs. It will all depend on how well the cross over-performs when it airs in December. If The CW fails to pick up Batwoman, there could still be a chance of it airing on the DC pay service which may begin next month.

Comic Watch fully supports superhero sexual diversity and representation in all forms of media and we will report further on this story as it develops.

As always we will be watching
