Per The Hollywood Reporter, comic book legend Frank Miller is launching a new company called Frank Miller Presents, with Dan Didio making his return to the world of comics as publisher. The company will feature content curated by Miller as well as new material from his worlds of Sin City and Ronin. Miller will act as editor-in-chief and president for the publishing venture. Silenn Thomas, the CEO of Frank Miller Ink, will serve as the company’s COO.
In an official statement, Miller said, “Investing in artists and and the future of comics has always been my one true passion and creative calling. Dan, Silenn and I couldn’t be more proud to be launching Frank Miller Presents, which will serve as fertile ground for storytellers and new creations. Our focus for this publishing company is to cultivate a fellowship of artists and writers to mentor, collaborate and push forward not only each other but the art form as well.”
Frank Miller Presents’ goal is to produce two to four titles per year. Upon initial announcement, the first titles will be a western, Sin City 1858, which acts as a prequel to Miller’s noir-drenched signature series; Ronin Book Two a sequel to his seminal 1983 miniseries Ronin from DC; and original works Pandora and Ancient Enemies. No details as to the comics’ creative times have been released yet – it is not even known how much Miller will be actively participating in 1858 or Ronin Book Two. This is speculative, but his role as editor-in-chief may not allow for as much creative free time as his fans might like.
FMP’s stated goal is for its material to start publication later this year, but no official release dates have been announced. Miller’s back catalogues for Sin City and Ronin will remain with their respective publishers.
