NEWS WATCH: ‘Hellboy” Reboot Film Release Date Pushed Back

The new Hellboy reboot film featuring Stranger Things star David Harbour has reportedly been pushed back over three months, landing on April 12th, 2019. It had previously been set to release on January 11th, 2019.

This new date puts the film just one week away from DC’s highly anticipated superhero film Shazam! which opens on April 5th, 2019. While opening in April may be more successful for the Hellboy film, the competition could prove to be tough. Also opening on the same weekend is Robert Downey Jr.’s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle and Fox’s Breakthrough featuring Chrissy Metz and Topher Grace.

Staring alongside Harbour in the rebooted franchise is Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, and Daniel Dae Kim. With a script from creator Mike Mignola as well as Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden, the film will bring the classic Hellboy comic arc ‘The Blood Queen’ to the big screen. The film is being directed by The Descent and Game of Thrones’ helmer Neil Marshall.

The cast and crew of Hellboy are set to make an appearance at New York Comic Con next week, so rumors are circulating regarding a possible first trailer. Stay tuned for more information as it releases!
