NEWS WATCH: Hometown Heroes Make Good With Digital Comic and the Wu-Tang Clan

Digital musical comic book series comes to life from Chicago siblings and the RZA

 

 

The talent and passion of a Chicago south side brother and sister team, Willis “Glyph Sputnik” Price and Nikiya Price has caught the eye of Wu-Tang member and music producer RZA. All in together know the trio with be launching Digital musical comic book series “Samurai in the Hoodie,” which will feature an original music soundtrack with the RZA. Now available for purchase for the Kindle on Amazon.

Coming together in 2012 to create House of Logic a creative agency centered on design, comic books, animation, inventive marketing strategies, and digital experience marketing is lead by Sputnik the creative comic book writer/artist and sister Nikiya the CEO of the company who specializes in brand marketing and product development. Both siblings from Avalon Park an area on the south side of Chicago were able to parlay Sputnik’s previous collaboration with the Wu-Tang on the rap groups 2017 compilation album “ The Saga Continues.” into RZA co-creator of 36 Chambers Inc jumping on board as an executive producer for the project.

 

 

“Samurai in a Hoodie” follows Yusef in the fictional town of Cobalt city where he fights for justice and battles the forces of evil under the tutelage of his martial arts sensei, Master Ki. The series is scheduled to have three story arcs totaling 15 issues. Issue No. 2 is tentatively planned for a February or early March release. In a news release last month the RZA said the comic “[Samurai Hoodie] reminded me of ‘Ghost Dog’ and ‘Afro Samurai,’ yet totally rooted in hip-hop from a Chicago perspective,”

Sputnik said about his creation “We looked through a lens of things as they happened. Samurai Hoodie wears a hoodie because of what happened to Trayvon Martin A lot of things can pop up when a young black man grows up in an urban setting,” and went on to say “The character is witty and spontaneous. That’s something that’s not seen in black comic book characters.”
