NEWS WATCH: ICYMI Disney + Will be the TV Home of the MCU and so much New Marvel … Take Our Money Already!!

An absolute slew of information has poured out of the Walt Disney Company Investors Day! Heres a breakdown on both Disney +, the service itself as well as the Marvel associated goodies True Believers that subscribe are going to be in for…

Firstly the service itself. As reported on Marvel.com

Disney+ will be the ultimate streaming destination for movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

Disney+ will launch in the U.S. market on November 12, 2019, at $6.99 a month.

You will be available to use the Disney+ service on a wide range of mobile and connected devices, including gaming consoles, streaming media players and smart TVs.

In addition, Disney+ will allow downloading, so all content from the service can be accessed offline, for as long as you’re a subscriber.

Disney+ will offer ad-free programming with a variety of original feature-length films, documentaries, live action, animated series, and short-form content, along with unprecedented access to Disney’s incredible library of film and television entertainment.

The service will also be the exclusive streaming home for films released by The Walt Disney Studios in 2019 and beyond, including “Captain Marvel,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Toy Story 4,” “The Lion King,” “Aladdin,” and “Star Wars Episode IX.”

Following its U.S debut, Disney+ will rapidly expand globally, with plans to be in nearly all major regions of the world within the next two years.

But what can Marvel fans expect… the answer is actually ALOT…

Disney + will be the single home for the entire MCU movie world. This will make it a must-have for Marvel movie fanatics with Captain Marvel being available on day one of launch and the rest of the catalog being added over time. In addition, the service plans to launch in November with at least 25 original series and 10 original films, documentaries and specials.

Speaking of those new original shows. The service will further look to cement Marvel viewership by bringing all-new series based on already existing MCU characters and staring the original actors from the highly successful movie franchise! This speaks to the kind of spending power involved. these include:

Tom Hiddleston returns as everyone’s favorite naughty Asgardian God of Mischief in a solo series called “LOKI”

Anthony Mack and Sebastian Stan will be bringing us all the soldiery action in a live-action series called “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,”

Another live action series will also return Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/ The Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as The Vision in WandaVision

The news isn’t all live action. As previously reported Disney + will also be the home of a new animated series based on the WHAT IF… comics series and will focus on taking pivotal moments from the MCU and completely flipping them over into new never explored avenues. Kevin Feige revealed that the first episode will ask: What if  Peggy Carter got the super serum and Steve Rogers donned a prototype armor built by Howard Stark before joining the War?

But it doesn’t stop with fiction. Disney + will also be bringing Marvel related documentary series including:

Marvel 616. The show will be an anthology documentary series “exploring the intersection between Marvel’s rich legacy of stories, characters, and creators and the world outside your window.” Diverse filmmakers will tell different stories about the influence of Marvel on society and culture. These will be produced by David Gelb, Brian McGinn, and Jason Sterman who have created, worked on, directed and produced shows for Netflix.

Disney will also produce an entirely different show called Marvel’s Hero Project. As reported on Marvel.com:

“Marvel’s Hero Project” reveals the remarkable, positive change several young heroes are making in their own communities. These inspiring kids have dedicated their lives to selfless acts of bravery and kindness, and now, Marvel celebrates them as the true Super Heroes they are.

“Marvel’s Hero Project” is produced by Marvel New Media in partnership with Maggievision Productions. Executive Produced by Joe Quesada, Stephen Wacker, Shane Rahmani, Liza Wyles and Sarah Amos for Marvel and Maura Mandt and John Hirsch for MaggieVision Productions.

These will join a Disney+ very extensive slate of documentary and nonfiction programming.

Add all this already confirmed Marvel goodness to the recently but unconfirmed report in Variety that Disney+ are also looking to produce a limited series around Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye with plans to perhaps introduce Kate Bishop and well it’s very clear that for Marvel fans Disney+ may be the best $6.99 they ever spent…

As always we will be watching…
