Tom Welling returns as the superman from Smallville in CW’s Arrowverse’s ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover.
The original farm boy superhero Tom Welling is back as the Clark Kent from Smallville to help save the multiverse in this years upcoming Arrowverse crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earth.” But the fangasm doesn’t stop there Welling won’t be the only superman on tap for the crossover, both Tyler Hoechlin will be reprising his role as the Superman from the Arrowverse and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Brandon Routh will also be reprising his famous if not infamous role as Superman in the 2006 movie Superman Returns. It has been reported that Routh will be appearing as another version of Superman who wears a costume inspired by Alex Ross’s Kingdom Come design.
“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it,” he said. “So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement,” said Arrow co-creator and executive producer Marc Guggenheim about the casting.
Not only will this be Welling’s first time in an Arrowverse crossover event but fan’s of the Smallville series will be delighted at this chance to play catch up with Clark Kent and all that’s happened to his world in the 8 years that the show has been off the air.
The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will start on Sunday, Dec. 8, with Supergirl, followed on Monday, Dec. 9 with Batwoman and Flash on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The event concludes after the winter break on Tuesday, Jan. 14 with Arrow at 8 pm and Legends of Tomorrow immediately after at 9 pm.
