Shadecraft, the new teen horror series from Image Comics, releasing March 31, 2021, has already been picked up by Netflix for an onscreen adaption.

The comic series is from the creative team of bestselling writer and Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson and popular Captain Marvel artist Lee Garbett.  Shadecraft follows Zadie Lu, a girl afraid of her own shadow as if it and the shadows in her hometown are coming to life.  The Hollywood Reporter posted that the development deal will have Henderson co-write the pilot with Georgia Lee, a writer-producer of other sci-fi shows such as The Expanse and The 100. The two will also be executive producers, with co-creator and series artist Garbett attached as a producer.

The new series is the creative team’s follow-up to their Eisner Award-nominated Skyward, which Henderson is adapting for Sony Pictures.  In the meantime, Henderson is currently the co-showrunner of Lucifer, which Netflix picked up in a deal with Warner Bros. TV, which is finishing production on its sixth and final season. Henderson’s previous credits also include Hulu’s Stephen King adaptation 11/22/63 and USA’s White Collar.  Georgia Lee is currently developing multiple projects for Netflix. In addition to working on Expanse and 100, she wrote on Carnival Row.
