NEWS WATCH: In Front Of Our Eyes And In The Palm Of Our Hands “Space Bandits” Is In Our Futures

Mark Millar’s “Space Bandits” is coming to Netflix as a show and to Image comic as a series!

Mark Millar’s latest collaboration with streaming network giant Netflix was recently revealed to be Space Bandits a female-led sci-fi story with comic publisher Image on board to provide a comic book tie-in. Both watchers and readers of Space bandits are in for an in-depth one of a kind story Mark Millar described in an interview with DEADLINE as “a female Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid set in space with a massive and exciting cast of characters.”

The art on both interiors and primary covers will be by Matteo Scalera (Deadpool, Batman, and Daredevil) Space Bandits. The story revolves aroundThena Khole and Cody Blue who are outlaw queens who lead heist gangs that hop from starship to starship taking whatever they want whenever they want it. When both Khole and Blue are betrayed by mutineers in their own crews, the two bandits are united in their thirst for revenge.

According to the report in DEADLINE:

Space Bandits # 1 will be on shelves for 3.99 on July 3, 2019, still no word on when the series will be available on Netflix, with a final order cutoff deadline of June 10. A limited edition Legend Cover Edition will be priced at 75 cents thanks to Millar’s affection for comics during his high school years when all comic were priced as such. His obsession with yesteryear allowed him to get his “favorite all-time comic book artist” and virtuoso illustrator Howard Chaykin to pencil the Legend Cover for issue#1 while it’s still anyone’s guess on who will draw the covers for the remaining 4 issues.

Millar said of the spirited space escapade quote:

I love writing female-led stories in everything from Reborn to Empress to Hit-Girl to Jupiter’s Legacy and, of course, our recent Magic Order at Netflix,” and went on to rave about Scalera “I also love writing big, fun sci-fi things. In a world with a billion superhero properties and gloomy, rain-soaked dystopian sci-fi, there’s a gap in the market for sci-fi that’s upbeat and fun and I wanted to combine all this into a big, high-octane story. I’ve been working on this as a property for Netflix since last summer and now I’m being joined by the brilliant Matteo Scalera for the comic-book translation of this story. The guy’s a genius and I’ve followed him for years. Having him draw this is like someone you’ve always had a crush on going out on a date with you. He’s just amazing.”
