Dave Accampo: When we decided to put our “One-Shot Horror” comics together, we knew we wanted to add a framing sequence that would add something special to the package. Professor Spectral came to mind as a mysterious figure—appealing to children with his colorful puppets, but to the reader there is obviously something wrong beneath the veneer. What’s his agenda? Is he just telling cautionary tales, or does he have a darker agenda…? You’ll have to read to find out!
Chris Anderson: Horror comics are different from horror films. There’s no such thing as a jump scare. So the real horror has to be at the root of the story and the tone of the art. Each of these stories keeps that in mind and sets an unsettling, eerie and creepy vibe that will feel different each time and satisfy even the most critical horror buff.
