DC Universe subscribers have something to celebrate. Recently at NYCC, DC Comics revealed the first teaser trailer for their upcoming original animated series titled ‘Harley Quinn’ staring Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) as Harley herself!
The trailer doesn’t hold anything back, taking shots at everything from Donald Glover’s failed Deadpool animated series to even DC Comics’ notorious “bleak and depressing” tone. It even features a surprise appearance of fan-favorite character Poison Ivy as the two break the fourth wall by discussing the show.
The official synopsis of the series is as follows:
Harley’s adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own in this new adult animated comedy. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of Doom.
Alongside Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) as Harley Quinn, the series’ cast also includes Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Ron Funches (Powerless), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Natalie Morales (Bojack Horseman), Jim Rash (Mike Tyson Mysteries), Diedrich Bader (Veep), Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep), Chris Meloni (Happy!, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).
The new Harley Quinn animated series is expected to release on the DC Universe streaming app sometime in December 2019. Until then, stay tuned for more information as it releases!
