NEWS WATCH: Kevin Feige Gives Update on Current and Upcoming Marvel Disney+ Shows and Their Future

Kevin Feige discusses Wandavision, Netflix, Agents of SHIELD, and other Marvel television programs

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke in great detail about the futures of the Disney+ shows at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, including Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and WandaVision, among others. Disney+ currently has ten shows slated for the next few years, with Ms. Marvel nearly finished shooting, and She-Hulk set to begin shooting, and Moon Knight to begin shortly after.

Marvel has yet to announce any future seasons regarding their shows futures, but Feige has confirmed that several of the programs will be continued after their initial season.

WandaVision currently has no plans for a season two, because Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch character will have her storyline continued in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a definitive sequel.

Feige went on to talk about Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, and their movie rights for the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool – as well as the possibility of having R-rated films in the MCU. Deadpool 3 will maintain its R-rating, though Feige said that will be the exception rather than the rule regarding Marvel movie ratings.

Before Feige began overseeing the television side of Marvel studios, Marvel had produced a number of programs through ABC, Freeform, and Netflix, such as Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Runaways, and more. While the shows all had highlights and failures, Feige argues that they were still successes, even though none of the shows had as much critical acclaim as WandaVision has thus far. Feige argues that the shows have legions of fans, and were successful for what they were.

Feige has previously stated that all characters that have appeared in these programs were still on the table to appear elsewhere, and he reaffirmed it during the interview, giving hope the fans to possibly seeing Charlie Cox’s Daredevil or Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones on upcoming programs/films.

With WandaVision finishing this Friday, Disney+’s slate seems to be full with Falcon & the Winter Soldier launching later in the month, followed by Loki, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, the animated What If…?, and films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and The Eternals slated for release this year, this looks to be a very busy time for Marvel Studios.
