BREAKING NEWS!
As reported by Deadline, Kevin Feige is out as producer for any future Spider-Man films. This is pretty big news considering the success Feige has had, however the fallout with Disney and Sony, a deal could not be reached. Now, word on the street is this could be a money issue, but here at Comic-Watch we treat the word speculation as a four-letter word, and I refuse to use it. So with that in mind, head on over to DEADLINE and check out the full article.
Sony has since responded directly to the reports in a series of tweets shedding more light on the situation…
Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. (1/3)

We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. (2/3)

Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue. (3/3)

While we aren’t exactly sure what this means for the future of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is interesting to note that Sony has placed the blame directly on Disney for what has transpired.
