Trouble is coming to the already troubled planet of Krypton in the form of Emmett J. Scanlan, who has just been cast as Czarnian bounty hunter Lobo. A deadly adversary, Lobo is said to be the last of his species – mostly because he killed the rest of his people off himself. Virtually immortal, and blessed with superstrength and an extraordinary healing factor, Lobo started out as a villain in the comics before becoming something of an anti-hero.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the only version of Lobo that Warner Bros currently has in contention. They’re also eyeing the character for a feature film, with the possibility of Michael Bay directing. Much like the Supergirl film being lobbied about, this will most likely have no connection to the DC Comics Television Multiverse (which is really the only way to describe the disparate universes which are the Arrowverse, Krypton, and Gotham. It remains to be seen where Titans and Doom Patrol fall, in terms of interconnective tissue.)
Scanlan – an Irish film and television star – has previously been seen in Netflix’s Safe and BBC’s The Fall, as well as the Constantine television series, where he played Jim Corrigan.
Season two of Krypton will expand beyond Kandor to the other city-states of the planet – and possibly other planets as well – as Doomsday is unleashed upon the world. In addition, the second season will delve more into the mythos behind Brainiac.
SyFy has not, as yet, announced a premiere date for the second season, but as always, we’ll be watching, so keep an eye on this space for more information when it becomes available.
