NEWS WATCH: Legendary Comics and Oscar Isaac Announces Head Wounds: Sparrow

Head Wounds: Sparrow coming from Legendary Comics and Oscar Isaac coming in 2021.

Thursday’s Legendary Comics San Diego’s ComicCon@Home panel not only had a big announcement but a surprise guest, Oscar Isaac, for the virtual panel announcing a new graphic novel he’s involved with developing, Head Wounds: Sparrow.

Isaac, who is well-known for such roles as Poe Dameron in the newest Star Wars Trilogy and En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse, is the latest actor getting involved with an original graphic novel project. Isaac is joining with his childhood friends Bob Johnson, and John Alvey. The story, inspired by a dream of Johnson’s that came following his diagnosis with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, centers around the character of Leo Guidry, a cop with a “psychic head wound” that pushes him to uncover a new empathy that can help him survive a war between angels, devils and everything in between.

It will be written by Brian Buccellato (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, DC’s The Flash and Injustice: Gods Among Us), with art by Christian Ward (Invisible Kingdom, Marvel’s Black Bolt), working from Johnson and Alvey’s direction.

Isaac, speaking about the project which is being developed through his production company, Mad Gene, had this to say, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter,

“Bob Johnson has a mind and a soul like no one else. Our friendship and creative collaboration has spanned nearly three decades. I couldn’t be more excited to bring his unique and singular vision of Head Wounds: Sparrow to life with the incredible group of artists we’ve assembled.”

Head Wounds: Sparrow is scheduled for release online and in stores early 2021, according to the publisher.
