Tokyo Ghost the cyberpunk series from Image Comics from the creative team of Rick Remender, artist Sean Murphy, and colorist Matt Hollingsworth, is getting a theatrical adaption courtesy of Legendary.
Set in 2089, Tokyo Ghost tells the story of what happens when humanity becomes fully addicted to technology as an escape from reality. The main story follows peacekeepers Debbie Decay and Led Dent, who work in the Isles of Los Angeles and are tasked with a job that takes them to the garden nation of Tokyo, the last tech-free country on Earth.
Rick Remender’s series other Fear Agent is currently being developed by Seth Rogen’s Point Grey for Amazon, will pen the project for Legendary. According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Cary Fukunaga, whose eagerly awaited James Bond installment No Time to Die is set for an October theatrical release, will direct. Fukunaga, whose other feature credits include Jane Eyre and Peabody Award-winning Beasts of No Nation, is currently directing the first three episodes of Amblin and Tom Hanks’ Playtone World War II series Masters of the Air for Apple’s streaming service.
