BRZRKR is set to hit screens everywhere via Netflix staring
co-writer and co-creator Keanu Reeves!
Are we surprised that BRZRKR has already been tapped for a live-action adaption and anime series after selling over 615,000 copies of its debut comic?
From Variety, Netflix is set to take on the BOOM! Studios hit series with Keanu Reeves attached to star in and produce a live-action film along with an anime series that will expand on the world of BRZRKR. With this being Keanu Reeves’ first comic book as a co-writer, alongside veteran Matt Kindt with art by Ron Garney, colors by Bill Crabtree and letters by Clem Robins as well as covers by Rafael Grampa, the series exploded into the industry carrying the hype of a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $1.4 million dollars.
BRZRKR is a “brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages. The man known only as ‘B’ (Reeves) is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence… even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.”
BOOM! Studios’ Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are set to produce with Reeves and Company Films’ Stephen Hamel and Adam Yoelin will executive produce. This comes from a recent first-look deal for both live-action and animated projects from BOOM! Studios for Netflix.
Though we don’t have much else confirmed for this latest development, the live-action film is reportedly set to release first which will then be followed by the anime series, all set in the same world of BRZRKR featuring Keanu Reeves.
