NEWS WATCH: Mad Cave Announces “Lower Your Sights” Artist Auction to Benefit Children Victims of Ukraine War

In September 2022, Mad Cave Studios and Voices Of Children teamed up to publish Lower Your Sights [September 14, 2022; 978-1-952303-45-6], a graphic novel benefit anthology to raise awareness and proceeds for children impacted by war. Now, two original pieces from the graphic novel have been graciously donated by artists J.G. Jones and Liana Kangas, and will be made available for auction on Heritage Auctions.com – with all proceeds going to The Voices of Children Foundation.

The auction will open on Thursday, October 27th and close on November 2nd.

Original piece by comics artist Liana Kangas (TRVE KVLT, Star Wars Adventures) will be available for auction here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/p/322244-47002.s

Original piece by acclaimed comics artist J.G. Jones (Wanted, Final Crisis) will be available for auction here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/p/322244-47001.s

“When Jeff reached out and offered to donate his cover to be auctioned for this cause, I read his email in disbelief,” said Mark Irwin, Mad Cave’s Vice President of Business Development. “Not only is Jeff one of the premiere cover artists of our time, but his heart is even bigger than his talent. We’re lucky to have this beautiful piece of art gracing this project, and the world is lucky to have J.G. Jones in it.”

“Anything is worth doing that can help the civilian victims of this utterly unnecessary, devastating war foisted on Ukraine by its belligerent neighbor. I hope the sale of the original cover art can add a few more dollars to help families displaced by the horrors of war,” Jones said.

In September 2022, Mad Cave Studios and Voices Of Children teamed up to publish Lower Your Sights [September 14, 2022; 978-1-952303-45-6], a graphic novel anthology/art book to raise awareness and proceeds for children impacted by war. Comic creators and pin-up artists worldwide were invited to tell stories that focus on the consequences of war, the peace/relief effort, and the resulting long-term ripple effect. The result is a stunning collection of tales about the human condition and how combat affects soldiers, family members, friends, students, doctors, politicians, and allies from afar.

Along with art from Tanya Vovk, Author of Illustrations and Director of Inspiration at Voices Of Children, the graphic novel features illustrations and write-ups from numerous Ukrainian artists including but limited to Inna Vjuzhanina, Mari Kinovych, Yev Haidamaka, and others.

Lena Rozvadovska, co-founder and CEO of Voices of Children, said, “For the past few months, after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the foundation has been working non-stop: helping injured children and families from all over the country, providing temporary psychological assistance, assisting in the evacuation of people, providing supplies for relocations, and providing assistance with settlements. When Mad Cave shared this idea of publishing a graphic novel with Tanya Vovk, right away we were ready to take the next steps.”
