NEWS WATCH: Mortal Kombat Returns to The Animated Universe with Battle of the Realms on August 31, 2021

Mortal Kombat returns to the animated universe as the warriors come together once again for one final clash in Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, arriving on August 31, 2021, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Digital, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack.

Picking up shortly after the explosive events of the 2020 blockbuster Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, the team of heroes are besieged by the enemy forces of Shao Kahn. This move forces Raiden and his group of warriors into a deal to compete in a final Mortal Kombat that will determine the fate of the realms. For the competition, the team must travel to Outworld to defend Earthrealm and, simultaneously, Scorpion, who must find the ancient Kamidogu before it is used to resurrect the One Being – which would mean certain destruction of all things in the universe.

Returning for the sequel are Joel McHale (Community, Stargirl) and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight), the voices of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, along with Jordan Rodrigues as Liu Kang, Patrick Seitz as Scorpion & Hanzo Hasashi, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung & Cyrax, Robin Atkin Downes as Shinnok & Reiko, Dave B. Mitchell as Raiden, Kintaro & Sektor; Ikè Amadi as Jax Briggs & One Being; Grey Griffin as Kitana, Satoshi Hasashi & Mileena; and Fred Tatasciore as Shao Kahn.

Joining the cast will be Matthew Mercer as Stryker & Smoke; Bayardo De Murguia as Sub-Zero/Kuai Liang; Matt Yang King as Kung Lao; Paul Nakauchi as Lin Kuei Grandmaster; Emily O’Brien as Jade; and Debra Wilson as D’Vorah.

Also returning to direct will be Ethan Spaulding with a script by Jeremy Adams (Supernatural, Justice Society: World War II) and based on the videogame created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Rick Morales (Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, Batman vs. Two-Face) serves as Producer along with Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) and Executive Producer Sam Register and Creative Consultant Ed Boon of NetherRealm Studios.
