NEWS WATCH: Neon Genesis Evangelion And More On Their Way To Netflix.

The anime that turned a whole generation on, Neon Genesis Evangelion is coming to Netflix and it brought some friends.

First up is the now classic Gainax and Tatsunoko Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series. Netflix shared the news about the anime on Monday night via the official NX Twitter account. The series which will also come with Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth and Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion films all coming spring 2019 worldwide. Hideki Anno’s critically acclaimed work has become one of the most influential shows in anime history and with the original distributor ADV Films shutting down in 2009 it’s quite difficult to get to watch this series much less own it.

A.D. 2015. Tokyo 3 is under attack by powerful creatures known as the Angels. The protagonist, Shinji Ikari, is chosen to pilot the Humanoid Decisive Weapon Evangelion — the only way for humanity to fight against the Angels. The battle for the fate of humanity starts now. What exactly are the Angels? What fate awaits the young pilots and humanity itself?

 

Ultraman also on Netflix recently unveiled the cast, musical composers, a teaser trailer, the second teaser art, and the April 1 worldwide premiere date. Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) will be directing the series. Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Napping Princess) and Sola Digital Arts (Appleseed Alpha) are producing the anime in 3D CG. Ryohei Kimura stars as Shinjiro Hayata, and the other cast members include Takuya Eguchi as Dan Moroboshi, Megumi Han as Seiji Hokuto, and Hideyuki Tanaka as Shin Hayata. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi are composing the music.

Several years have passed since the events of Ultraman, with the legendary “Giant of Light” (Hikari no Kyojin) now a memory, as it is believed he returned home after fighting the many giant aliens that invaded the Earth. Shin Hayata’s son Shinjiro seems to possess a strange ability, and it is this ability, along with his father’s revelation that he was Ultraman, that leads Shinjiro to battle the new aliens invading the Earth as the new Ultraman.

 

Rilakkuma and Kaoru originally slated for 2018 via Netflix in 190 countries is one of Japan’s most popular characters that is now coming April 19, 2019. Masahito Kobayashi is directing the anime at Dwarf Studio (Domo), while Naoko Ogigami (Kamome Shokud?, Megane, Close-Knit) is writing the scripts. The show will be animated through stop-motion.

The character’s story begins when the titular Rilakkuma suddenly appears in the apartment of office worker Kaoru and begins living there, spending every day idling around. He has a zipper on his back, but the contents remain unknown. He likes food like pancakes, omelet rice, pudding, and dango. He lives together with the little white cub Korilakkuma and Kaoru’s pet Kiiroitori (“yellow bird”).

 

Next up for Netflix is 7SEED which unveiled the cast, staff, and April 2019 release date for the anime adaptation of Yumi Tamura‘s 7SEEDS manga. Yukio Takahashi (Dog & Scissors) is directing the anime at GONZO. Touko Machida (The IDOLM@STER) is in charge of series composition. Youko Satou (Dog & Scissors) is designing the characters. With the voice talents of Nao T?yama as Natsu Iwashimizu, Jun Fukuyama as Arashi Aota, Katsuyuki Konishi as Semimaru Asai, Yoko Soumi as Botan Saotome, Kana Asumi as Matsuri Tend?, Akira Ishida as Chimaki Yamori, Aoi Y?ki as Hotaru Kusakuri, and Kazuhiko Inoue as Kaname Mozunoto

A series that takes place in the immediate future, a giant meteorite has collided with earth. All living organisms, including mankind, have been wiped off the face of the planet. The government, who had foreseen this outcome, took measures to counter the worst-case scenario called Project 7SEEDS, in which five sets of seven young men and women were carefully selected and placed into teams. Each participant sought ways to survive on a deserted island.

 

Finally, announced by Netflix, Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya, its CG anime remake of Masami Kurumada‘s Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac) manga, slated for release summer of 2019. Netflix also revealed a new visual for the series which comes as a 12-episode season that will feature the story from the Galaxian Wars to Silver Saints arcs of the manga. Each episode will be about 30 minutes long. Yoshiharu Ashino (Tweeny Witches) is directing the series at Toei Animation. Eugene Son (Duel Masters) is the story editor and head writer. Terumi Nishii (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable) is designing the characters, and Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai manga creator, Summer Wars character designer) is designing the armor.

Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya follows modern-day adventures of young warriors called “Knights”, who are sworn protectors of the reincarnated Greek goddess Athena. Each knight wears a powerful armor based on their chosen zodiac constellation, and are called Knights of the Zodiac. They aid Athena in her battle against powerful Olympian gods who are bent on destroying the humankind.
