Here’s a little secret you may or may not know… BOOM Studios has the largest IP after Marvel and DC, so it’s no surprise that the latest round of subscription service bidding wars deals with BOOM Studios.
Netflix has come up victorious in winning the rights to The Unsound, a horror story of sorts by Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Harrow County) & Jack T. Cole. The Unsound deals with a psychiatrist who returns to the insane asylum where her mother once worked and is now a patient. As time goes on she discovers hard truths about her own past and the hospital that hides secrets of its own.
David F. Sandberg (Shazam!) has been chosen to bring The Unsound to the screen. Have no fear, Sandberg has helmed big money titles in the past, such as Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation. Sandberg and longtime collaborator Lotta Losten will produce via their newly created production company Mångata alongside BOOM! Studios’ Ross Richie and Stephen Christy.
