The upcoming new Guilty Gear game promises to be “a complete reconstruction of the franchise.”
One of the most iconic fight games ever Arc Systems Works, Guilty Gear is back at it again with a brand new installment that will be playable at the ArcRevo World Tour Finals. The finals will be held on November 16-17 at the UC Irvine Student Center Conference Center in Los Angeles, California where the top ArcSys players from around the world will be gathering to decide the world champions in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2. Arc Systems has yet to confirm any platforms for the game but the Demo Game Corner section of the official schedule for the tour specified the new Guilty Gear will playable on the PlayStation 4.
Fans of the series should also note that this installment will be “a complete reconstruction of the franchise” said director Daisuke Ishiwatari this week on a Twitter message to fans. Ishiwatari went on to say in the Twitter message “The core concept this time is unlike those of the past titles—it is neither “evolution” nor “returning to roots”; nor is it an addition or subtraction of elements from existing titles. What we’re pursuing is a brand new experience for Guilty Gear. To achieve that goal, we’ve disassembled the current franchise into fragments and sifted out the pieces that make it unique and charismatic, using those pieces to have a complete reconstruction of the franchise.”
In addition to the new Guilty Gear game, the ArcRevo World Tour Finals will also have the BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle’s big 2.0 -listed as Special Edition -update, as well as the upcoming Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[c1-r] fighters playable at the event.
With a release date sometime in 2020 the upcoming Guilty Gear sounds like a fresh new chapter in this already seminal game series and as the next generation of consoles are also out next year, we might be at the precipice of another cross-generational hit.
