NEWS WATCH: Oscar Isaac to Play Solid Snake in Big-Screen METAL GEAR SOLID

The long-awaited big-screen adaption of the hit video game  Metal Gear Solid  is one step closer to becoming a reality as Sony Pictures has reportedly found it lead to play Solid Snake.

Metal Gear Solid is the video game created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami in 1998, from Playstation, a follow up to the original Nintendo game from 1987.  The game tells the story of Snake, a soldier who must infiltrate a nuclear weapons facility and neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit.  Since it was released, the game received much acclaim, especially since the story had a cinematic feeling, making a movie adaptation a logical and inevitable step for the franchise.

According to the entertainment website, DEADLINE, the Jordan Vogt-Roberts film being developed by Sony Pictures, with the script written by Derek Connolly and Avi Arad is producing, has found its lead in Oscar Isaac. Isaac, fresh off his Star Wars role, is already set to star in Scenes From A Marriage opposite Jessica Chastain, and by playing the title role in the upcoming series of Marvel’s Moon Knight for Disney+.

Isaac next on scene appearance in the much-anticipated reboot of Dune and Paul Schrader’s The Card Counter. He is also set to star in and produce the adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn’s Ex Machina comic retitled The Great Machine and star in Barry Levinson’s Francis And The Godfather, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

No timetable for filming to begin was available at this time.
