Parallax Studio is excited to announce the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to fund the final phases of its newest independent film project, To Meet the Faces You Meet. This campaign will fund the hire of one, two or even more A-list actors to star in the film alongside Patton Oswalt, who voices the lead animated character (his parts have already been produced). The primary goal of the campaign is to cast the film’s male lead, Oswalt’s compatriot. Once that role has been funded, the studio will aggressively pursue stretch goals to fund additional A-list roles, including the militaristic main antagonist (male), a programmer/love interest character, and an escaped prisoner, all of whom find themselves engaged in a galaxy-wide game of cat-and-mouse.
“To Meet the Faces You Meet” draws its story from a 1972 underground comic book illustrated by prolific comic artist Richard Corben (Heavy Metal/Dark Horse) and Disney writer Jan Strnad. Director Jeff Williams (Darkstar: The Interactive Movie/Everything) bought the comic as a boy and, after nearly half a century producing other projects, his studio finally put the story into production.
After three years of work, the entire 94-minute feature film is nearly complete. Animated plates, musical score, sound effects, editing … just one thing remains: live-action talent. The Kickstarter campaign launch signifies the studio’s readiness to complete the project on a relatively quick timeline, despite recent setbacks due to the global pandemic. Once funded, live-action filming can begin. There are 25+ smaller speaking and non-speaking roles and extras required to flesh out the picture: fighter pilots, bounty hunters, technician characters and crowds, most of which to be filled by a base of experienced character actors locally available to the studio. Actors may submit inquiries and/or audition tapes if interested in any of these roles by emailing the Director or Assistant Director.
ABOUT THE FILM (NARRATIVE SYNOPSIS):
Hoping to develop the deadliest war machine in history, Admiral Gillette thinks he has created the ultimate weapon: a pilot (Friz) symbiotically linked with an AI spaceship (MEAD: Mobile Extrasensory Autonomous Deceptor) possesses the ability to project illusions so convincing that they cannot be distinguished from reality. But errant programming has instilled MEAD with pacifist tendencies, making him useless for military purposes. Scheduled for “decommission,” Friz and MEAD flee and are pursued across the solar system by bounty hunters and the Admiral – who has a personal vendetta.
